Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has advocated the inclusion of more Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) players into the national team.

Musa posited that the national team selectors need to believe in the home-based players.

“We need to make sure that we give our local players a chance to be able to go to the national team and showcase their talent and be part of that,”; he said in Lagos.

“The coaches need to believe in them to showcase their best for the team.

“It’s fundamental to go back to our local league to get the best from the team.”;

FLYINGEZE BLOG recalls that NPFL players Sunday Mbah and Godfrey Oboabona played crucial roles in the Super Eagles’ successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign in South Africa in 2013.

Enyimba’s Ojo Olorunleke and Bendel Insurance’s Amas Obasogie are the only players Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro selected for the doubleheader 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
