Nigerian Navy arrests 27 suspects in Lagos drug raid

Published on April 09, 2025 at 08:51 PM

Operatives of the Nigerian Navy have apprehended 27 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking during a targeted operation in Lagos. This was disclosed on Wednesday by Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Beecroft, who stated that the arrests followed a coordinated, intelligence-led raid on a known criminal enclave in Gidan Drama, situated along Malu Road in Apapa.

The operation, which aimed to dismantle a suspected drug distribution network, resulted in the arrest of 27 suspects, 24 males and three females. Lieutenant Ibrahim noted that the successful crackdown was based on credible intelligence received by naval personnel, underscoring the Navy’s continued commitment to supporting internal security efforts and curbing illicit activities within its area of operations.

“The raid was carried out on Saturday, 5 April 2025 by personnel of NNS BEECROFT following credible intelligence received by the Base on the presence of suspected drug peddlers in Gidan Drama which necessitated the deployment of Operation MESA,”; he stated.

“During the raid, a total of 27 suspected drug peddlers comprising three females and 24 males were arrested with hard drugs and other illicit substances.”
