No movement of Boko Haram towards Damaturu – Yobe Govt debunks rumours

Published on April 05, 2025 at 05:45 PM

The Yobe State government has described as untrue reports of Boko Haram insurgents moving towards Damaturu, the state capital.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), made the assertion in a statement on Saturday.

The statement followed the emergence of a purported ‘intelligence report' titled ‘IMMEDIATE SECURITY ALERT' being circulated on the social media.

“The Information which is false and the work of mischief makers did not emanate from the Office of the Special Adviser.

“The fake information is aimed at causing panic among the general public and should be discountenanced,” Abdulsalam said.

The SA on Security Matters urged law abiding citizens of the state to go about their normal businesses.
