Infamous bandit kingpin Kachalla Harisu and 10 members of his gang have been killed in a violent intra-gang shootout deep within the forests bordering Safana and Dutsin-Ma Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the deadly confrontation erupted in the early hours of Tuesday, triggered by a bitter dispute over ransom proceeds and control of territory.
“The feud stemmed from disagreements over recent ransom collections and power dynamics within the gang structure. It escalated quickly into a gun battle, leading to the death of Harisu and ten of his close fighters,”; a source revealed.
Kachalla Harisu had long been on the radar of Nigerian security forces. He was notorious for orchestrating numerous attacks, mass abductions, and cattle rustling operations across Katsina and neighbouring Zamfara states.
Security operatives are monitoring the aftermath of the clash, as tensions remain high among rival factions still active in the region.
