A notorious kidnapper identified as Garba (surname unknown), who had been on the wanted list of security agencies was arrested in Gombi Town, Adamawa State.

However, he died after attempting to escape while being transported to the police station.

The development was contained in a statement by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Thursday.

According to police sources in Borno, the arrest was carried out on March 26 at about 12:00 p.m. by a joint patrol team comprising police operatives and professional hunters, following credible intelligence.

During preliminary investigations, Garba reportedly confessed to being in possession of a locally made AK-47 rifle and a locally made pistol, which were subsequently recovered by security operatives.

However, while being transported to the police station, the suspect attempted to escape and was shot by security personnel.

He was rushed to Cottage Hospital, Gombi, where he was confirmed dead.

Garba had allegedly been involved in several kidnapping operations across Adamawa and neighboring states.
