Published on November 03, 2022 at 02:27 PM

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has fixed December 1 as kick-off date for the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The IMC, DAILY POST learnt, has also adopted an abridged format for the new season.

The season will end in May 2023 to enable the Nigerian football calendar align with that of Europe and rest of the world.

The IMC is also working round the clock to ensure that NPFL matches will be live on television.

The body met top officials of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Abuja on Wednesday to discuss modalities on how to transmit the matches live.

Rivers United won the NPFL title last season with Plateau United coming second.

Both teams are currently campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup.
