Published on April 05, 2025 at 02:59 PM

Rivers United captain, Temple Emekayi has called for a positive response from his teammates against Remo Stars.

The Pride of Rivers were bundled out of the President Federation Cup by Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Beyond Limit on Wednesday.

Rivers United will take on league leaders Remo Stars in a matchday 32 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

Emekayi acknowledged the disappointment of their cup exit but emphasized that the team has plenty to play for in the league.

“Remo Stars is next, and we have to get ready for the next game. Then we move on from there,” Emekayi told Rivers United's media.

“I know it will take a little bit to get going again, but I think what we are playing for in the league is enough motivation for all of us.

“Every game now is so important, it has been for a while. It has been so tight and so competitive.”

Rivers United, who are second in the league table, trail table toppers Remo Stars by eight points.
