NSCDC arrests four suspects, recover exhibits in different locations in Kaduna

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kaduna State Command's Special Task Force has successfully apprehended three suspected vandals involved in the theft of railway sleepers.

Speaking during the press briefing at the NSCDC Kaduna State Headquarters, the Commandant, Muhammadu Dansadau said the arrest followed intelligent reports.

The Commandant, represented by the Head of Anti-vandal Unit, Assistant Commandant of Corps, Nasir Bello Jimoh said the operation led to the recovery of 61 pieces of railway sleepers along Yakowa Way, Kaduna.

He said the suspects were arrested on March 20, 2025, at approximately 04:50 hours, while transporting the stolen items concealed beneath 27 bags of sawdust in a J5 bus with registration number FTA 880 XA, en route to Katsina State.

Following their interception, all three suspects were taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the criminal act, he said.

In a similar development, on April 11, 2025, the NSCDC in joint operation with the sector 4 of Fansan Yamma arrested a 25-year-old man, Umar Ibrahim, in Katari Town, Kachia LGA, while he was in possession of vandalized power transmission cables such as: 150kg of aluminum high-tension cable, and 200kg of iron rod scrap meters.

The items were being conveyed in a green Golf vehicle.

He said the suspect is currently in their custody as investigations continue.
