One person has been confirmed dead after a helicopter crash into New York's Hudson River on Thursday.

Two individuals were rescued from the water, although their condition remains unknown, as reported by the New York Police Department.

The crash took place near the shore, next to Pier 40, just across the river from New Jersey.

Several emergency services have rushed to the scene, with both boats and ground units working together in a coordinated effort to facilitate the rescue.

It is reported that five people were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash, including three children and two adults, according to CBS News.
