PDP faults Gov Uba Sani over claims of ‘no opposition party’ in Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has faulted the recent claim by Governor Uba Sani and APC North West Zone Chairman, Garba Datti Babawo, that there is “no opposition party” in Kaduna State.

Maria Samuel Dogo, Publicity secretary, PDP, Kaduna State, in a statement said the claim is not only false but deliberately orchestrated to divert attention from the PDP's relentless scrutiny of the inept APC administration in the state.

The statement said PDP has been active, focused and committed to holding the ruling party accountable on behalf of the people of Kaduna State.

The party said it wasn't surprised by Governor Uba Sani's claim, given his penchant for travelling and near-total absence from the state since the inception of the administration about 23 months ago, which has earned him the name “the absentee governor”.

“Perhaps, the current wave of defections in the APC including that of his estranged godfather and former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, has also rattled the party, prompting this kind of outburst against opposition parties in the state,” it said.

PDP said it remained the party to beat in the state with three senators, six members of the House of Representatives and about a dozen members in the state House of Assembly in the kitty.

It added, “Our ranks include a former vice president, former governor and several influential figures who thwarted the APC's planned rigging of the 2024 LG Council elections, despite changing the electoral law through the back door.”
