Abia State Police Command has commenced investigation to unravel the cause of the death of a young man, Chukwuka Nwosu whose lifeless body was last week Thursday,discovered hanging on a fence in Olokoro, Umuahia South LGA.
This is as the police said that the body of the victim has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Chukwuka's lifeless body was discovered last week, with his Toyota Corolla car also found packed very close to the crime scene along Umudike road in Olokoro.
Speaking to DAILY POST about the matter, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka said the police received information on 17th of April, 2025 that the lifeless body of Chukwuka Nwosu was found hung with a belt on a fence along Umudike road, Olokoro.
“Detectives from Ubakala Divisional Headquarters visited the crime scene where the lifeless body with no sign of violence on him, was found.
“Photograph taken, corpse removed and deposited at Madonna mortuary for preservation and autopsy, preliminary investigation is ongoing”, the Police spokesperson said.
The death of the young man caused tension in Umutowe autonomous community last week but the traditional ruler, Eze Godfrey Onwuka and his cabinet appealed to the natives to avoid taking laws into their own hands, saying that the Eze-in-Council and the community's vigilante are collaborating with the police to carry out a thorough investigation.
