Police confirm killing of popular Adamawa youth, Zamfara, begin investigation

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a popular youth, Thomas Godwin, also known as Zamfara.

The police command, which said on Wednesday that Zamfara's killing occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, described the incident as unfortunate.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was attacked by unknown person(s) while returning home,” the command said in a press release signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje explained that Zamfara was beaten with sticks and clubs, resulting in his death.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Incharge of Investigation (DC SCID) to carry out a full-scale investigation into the incident,” Nguroje stated.

He added that a team of detectives had been deployed to conduct investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.

“The Command, while praying for the departed soul to rest in peace. urges members of the public to give useful information that will aid the investigation,” he said.

An associate of the deceased, Samtanyi Na'ada, said in a tribute, “Our hearts melt this morning, our brother and colleague, Thomas Godwin Zamfara was killed last night. Rest well. Let your murderers and the evil man who ordered for your blood live for ever!”
