Published on April 29, 2025 at 06:34 PM

The Lagos State Police Command has successfully foiled a robbery attempt in the Ajegunle area, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a firearm.

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Azeez Anofi, also known as ‘Stainless,’ and Damilare Obadia, were apprehended at approximately 6:30 am on Monday by operatives from the Layeni Police Division.

The duo was reportedly attempting to hijack a commercial tricycle, commonly referred to as Keke Marwa, along Layeni Ojo Road.

“Following the arrest, one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects. Further investigation has commenced to arrest other suspects and recover other operational weapons,”; the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

He further noted that investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional accomplices and recover more weapons potentially linked to the gang.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has commended the swift action taken by officers of the Layeni Division.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police for prompt and appropriate action.
