Published on April 10, 2025 at 08:51 PM

Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have rescued a yet-to-be-identified young man from an angry mob that caught him allegedly attempting to rob an okada rider of his motorcycle in Makurdi, the state capital.

The incident occurred on Thursday around Angus Fraser College, Owner Occupier Quarters Extension, Makurdi.

DAILY POST gathered that the suspects were spotted by vigilant members of the public while trying to dispossess a man of his motorcycle. A hot pursuit ensued, and the suspects were eventually caught up with.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “After a fierce chase, he and his gang fell from the bike, but the other two escaped. He was unfortunate.

“The angry mob caught him and had already hung a tyre around his neck and were about to set him ablaze when the police arrived at the scene of the incident.”

Efforts to confirm further from the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, CSP Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful, as calls to her phone were not returned at the time of this report.
