, 54, played the original Black Power Ranger Zack Taylor in the 1993 series.

After the show debuted on Fox Kids, it soon became a pop culture phenomenon.

His last appearance in the franchise came in 2023 when he reprised the role for , a television movie to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the show.

Fans were completely overcome by nostalgia as three of the original stars from the iconic series reunited three decades after the show hit screens.

The star has also appeared in huge shows such as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

But Walter has spoken out after the writer of Power Rangers, Tony Oliver, claimed it was a ‘mistake' to cast a number of actors into their respective roles due to cultural insensitivities.

Speaking in the Investigation Discovery’sHollywood Demonsdocuseries, Oliver said it was “such a mistake”; to cast “the Black character [as] the Black Ranger and the Asian character [as] the Yellow Ranger.”

However, Walter spoke out on the highly-publicised remarks in a post on Instagram.

Far from a ‘mistake', the actor thought it was an “honour” to play the famous character and claims his contribution was a ‘milestone' in Hollywood.

In a mini-essay on the micro-blogging platform, Walter explained: “While some choose to seek out the negative, I’ve always believed in focusing on the positive.

“I understand the impulse to address what might be seen as cultural insensitivity, but calling it a ‘mistake' would dismiss the impact it had on countless people around the world who found inspiration and representation in TV’s first Black superhero — morphin’ into none other than the Black Power Ranger!”

He added: “It wasn’t a mistake; it was a milestone. It was an honor”

Walter was previously seen with David Yost (Billy the Blue Ranger), and Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly the Pink Ranger) after he shared a photo of their meet up on social media.

They could be seen grinning in front of a sign for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, as he wrote in the caption: “31 years of teenagers with attitude.”
