The presidency has debunked the rumours that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, has been replaced.

The presidency called the story ‘fake news.’

Rumours are currently trending on the social media space that the INEC boss was replaced by President Tinubu.

However, the Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Digital Media and New Media, O'tega Ogra said there was no iota of truth in the story.

“Disregard any fake news making the rounds about the replacement of the INEC Chairman,” he said in a brief statement.

He added, “Any such announcement will come from the SGF’s office or the any other official source.”;
