Prince Harry has complained that VIPs had been treated better than him following Home Office security snub

In February 2020, the Executive Committee for the Protection of and Public Figures (Ravec) decided that his level of protection should be decided on a case-by-case basis when he visits the UK.

Part of the two-day hearing was in private but a short redacted summary has since been released.

The Duke gave an interview to the Telegraph shortly after the hearing finished stating that his “worst fears”; had been confirmed by what he heard in the secret session and: “People would be shocked by what’s being held back”;.

It reveals that lawyers for the Duke “drew the Court’s attention to the position of others who has treated differently to, and more favourably than, the Appellant.”;

The documents say: “He submitted that there is no proper or rational basis for doing so.

“In particular, and unlike the process RAVEC had adopted in respect of the Appellant, there were others for whom (a) RAVEC had required an RMB analysis before a decision was made regarding their security and before they were removed from the permanent RAVEC cohort; and (b) RAVEC had RMB analyses done on an ongoing basis (because they were in the Other VIP Category which comprises individuals in the RAVEC cohort who receive protective security because of facts particular to them).

“The Appellant submitted that his position was in material respects analogous to the position of those other individuals.”;

It was also revealed that the after a threat was made against him by .

Harry has previously said he faces a greater risk than his late mother, with “additional layers of racism and extremism”;.

He believes his family faces an “international threat”; and has already highlighted that al-Qaeda had called for him to be killed.

In written submissions as part of Harry’s appeal, Shaheed Fatima KC, for the duke, said Ravec ruled in 2020 that “there is no basis for publicly funded security support for the duke and duchess within Great Britain”;.

After the decision, al-Qaeda called for Harry “to be murdered”;, and his security team was informed that the terrorist group had published a document which said his “assassination would please the Muslim community”;, Ms Fatima said.

The , which is legally responsible for Ravec’s decisions, is opposing the appeal.

A decision is expected in writing at a later date.
