Prince Harry’s African charity under investigation in UK

Published on April 03, 2025 at 03:02 PM

Britain's Charity Commission has launched an investigation into Sentebale, the charity Prince Harry set up in memory of his mother, Princess Diana.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Commission noted that it would probe whether Sentebale's “current and former trustees, including its chair, have fulfilled their duties and responsibilities”.

Reacting to the development, Harry released a statement, saying he was satisfied “that the Charity Commission confirmed they will be conducting a robust inquiry”.

“We fully expect it will unveil the truth that collectively forced us to resign.”

The Duke of Sussex co-founded the charity in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in honour of their mothers, Diana and Lesotho’s Queen Mamohato.

Sentebale was established to tackle health issues such as HIV and AIDS, as well as wealth inequity and climate resilience among young people in the southern African nations of Lesotho and Botswana.
