Aston Villa jet off to the French capital this week for a blockbuster Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
And it's something of a David vs Goliath encounter on European football's biggest stage.
The Parisians are seasoned campaigners at this level, having reached at least the quarter-finals in each of the past 13 seasons.
However, European glory still eludes them. PSG have reached the final just once — a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020 — and have never lifted the famous trophy.
But under Luis Enrique, PSG look a different beast this season.
They’ve already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title with six games to spare and knocked out tournament favourites Liverpool in the previous round, overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit in the process.
That victory not only sent a message to the rest of Europe, but also ended a run of three consecutive knockout-stage exits to English clubs — a psychological hurdle now seemingly cleared.
PSG's new-found resilience stems from their youthful squad. With an average starting XI age of just 24 years and 242 days — they have the fifth-youngest in this season’s competition, and the youngest among the remaining sides — unburdened by the ghosts of previous European collapses.
So it's clearly a daunting task for Unai Emery’s Villa, who have never won away to a French side in European competition (P5 D2 L3).
Yet the Premier League outfit arrive in outstanding form, riding a seven-match winning streak, during which they’ve netted 20 goals and kept five clean sheets.
In Emery, they also boast one of Europe's most decorated managers. The Spaniard has won the Europa League a record four times — three with Sevilla and once with Villarreal — and is renowned for his tactical nous in continental competition.
However, his record against Luis Enrique is far from flattering.
In 10 managerial meetings, Emery has emerged victorious just twice (D1 L7), including that infamous night in 2017 when Enrique’s Barcelona overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit to knock Emery’s PSG out in one of the Champions League’s most dramatic comebacks.

First goalscorer
Ousmane Dembele is thriving under Luis Enrique. The Frenchman, 27, has scored 32 goals in 40 appearances this season – including seven in 10 Champions League games.
He's also scored 11 of his last 12 UCL goals before the 60-minute mark and has opened the scoring for PSG in each of his last three starts.

Fouls
Joao Neves is available at a healthy 13/8 to commit Over 1 Foul against Aston Villa, which appears generous given he's committed 13 fouls in the Champions League this season – more than any of his PSG colleagues.
That's perhaps not surprising given he's also attempted more tackles than any PSG player in this 2024-25 competition (27). He's averaging 0.7 fouls per game in a much less competitive Ligue 1 competition (13 in 24).
