President Vladimir Putin has extended the deadline set by the government for foreign nationals seeking to regularise their stay in Russia.
The government had instructed foreigners who violated migration rules to legalise their stay by 20 April 2025 or leave the country.
The ultimatum has now been extended until 10 September 2025, according to a decree published on Monday.
The decree applies to foreigners and stateless persons who are included in the database of individuals without legitimate grounds for staying in Russia.
In February, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a directive expanding the list of border checkpoints where foreigners may use the unified e-visa to enter Russia.
The Tashanta vehicle checkpoint in the Republic of Altai was added, becoming the 105th border checkpoint where the use of e-visas is authorised.
The government approved the policy to promote tourism, enhance the investment appeal of the regions, and contribute to economic growth.
The system, which grants children under six a visa free of charge, was launched in the summer of 2023, with application forms obtainable on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website.
The unified e-visa categories include tourist, business, humanitarian, and guest trips, with processing taking approximately four days.
