The Russian government has accused the United Kingdom and United States of involvement in the war in Ukraine through media narratives that put the federation in a bad light.
In an interview with TASS News Agency, Russia's Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin cited a British publication he said came after a thrilling write-up in America.â
“We are seeing these new revelations about the extent of UK and American involvement in the conflict in Ukraine,” said the former permanent for security and cooperation in Europe.
Ambassador Kelin said following the “sensational article” by The New York Times, The Times published a piece which gave details about the British in Ukraine.
There have been no debates on the mentioned issue at the parliament, he explained, calling the publication “a tacit admission that the UK is conducting unannounced hostilities against us.”
Kelin stated that his country was not surprised by the information in the Western media, suggesting that British journalists only rescripted a “Russian propaganda” released earlier (from the U.S.)
The envoy queried London's “interest” in articles against Russia, and asked critics to remind themselves and others of “their role in unleashing the conflict and keeping it escalated.”
Kelin based his statement “against the backdrop of London's struggle for patronage over Ukraine in various Western formats such as Ramstein.”
The ambassador said there's “a desire to prevent a peaceful settlement,” adding that the articles in the American and British media “advocate the most escalatory scenarios for the development of events.”
Ramstein, also known as the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, is an alliance of all 32 NATO member states and 25 other countries supporting Ukraine with military equipment since the 2022 Russian invasion.
