President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of attempting to create the general impression of a ceasefire.

Zelenskyy said that the Russian army in some areas was still continuing isolated attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine.

In a statement on his X handle on Sunday, the Ukrainian President, citing a report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi on the frontline as of 6:00 a.m. said there have been 59 cases of Russian shelling and 5 assaults by Russian units across various frontline directions.

The statement comes a day after President Putin as part of an “Easter truce” in Ukraine.

In an update on the Kremlin's Telegram, Putin said the temporary ceasefire will last from 6pm today (4pm UK time) until Monday.

However, Zelenskyy stated that between 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday there were 387 instances of shelling and 19 assaults by Russian forces.

According to the President, drones were used by Russians 290 times.

Zelenskyy maintained that Russia must fully comply with the conditions of the ceasefire.

He further announced that Ukraine’s proposal to implement and extend the ceasefire for 30 days after midnight tonight remains on the table.

“Across various frontline directions, there have already been 59 cases of Russian shelling and 5 assaults by Russian units.

“In the Kursk region, Russian forces conducted artillery strikes and used drones.

“Between 6:00 p.m. yesterday and midnight today, there were 387 instances of shelling and 19 assaults by Russian forces. Drones were used by Russians 290 times.

“Overall, as of Easter morning, we can state that the Russian army is attempting to create the general impression of a ceasefire, while in some areas still continuing isolated attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine. Russia must fully comply with the conditions of the ceasefire.

“Ukraine’s proposal to implement and extend the ceasefire for 30 days after midnight tonight remains on the table. We will act in accordance with the actual situation on the ground,” part of Zelenskyy's statement read.
