French President Emmanuel Macron has revealed his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s two key desires amid his country's ongoing war with Russia.

Macron stated that Zelenskyy wishes to work with both Europeans and Americans to implement an unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

The French leader disclosed this in a tweet via his official X account on Saturday.

According to him, he had a very positive exchange with Zelenskyy in Rome on Saturday, where world leaders gathered for the funeral of Pope Francis.

The 47-year-old noted that it is now up to Russian President Vladimir Putin to demonstrate that he truly desires peace with Ukraine.

Macron said, “Ending the war in Ukraine. This is the goal we share with President Trump.

“Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire. President Zelenskyy reiterated this to me today. He wants to work alongside the Americans and Europeans to implement it.

“Now it’s up to President Putin to prove he truly wants peace.”

This development comes as US President Donald Trump suggested that differently through secondary sanctions amid the war in Ukraine.
