BARBIE star Ryan Gosling will swap dolls for droids with a leading role in the new Star Wars film.
, who played Ken in the 2023 award-winning film, will appear in Star Wars: Starfighter.
Lucasfilm said the flick, to be made by director Shawn Levy, would be a standalone movie with “all-new characters”;.
It means there will be no Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader or other fan-favourites.
’s involvement was announced by Lucasfilm chiefs at the annual Celebration convention in yesterday.
Ryan said at the event: “The Force is a mysterious thing, but the Force is the fans. May the fans be with us.
“This is the perfect place to start this journey for us.
“It’s an incredible reminder of why we’re going to make this movie and who we’re making this movie for.”;
He added: “My mum sent a picture of my bedsheets when I was five.
“I was dreaming about Star Wars before I ever saw it.
“It’s always been there, it’s in the DNA and the culture of myself. I think it framed my idea of what a movie even was.
“But all of that aside, the script is just so good. The story has so much adventure, so much heart and original characters.
“It’s an opportunity to shine a light into a side of the universe we may not have seen.
“And there’s no one more perfect than Shawn to do that.”;
Filming begins later this year, with the movie due for release in May 2027.
