Tragedy as schoolgirl, 13, killed in devastating house fire as seven others including 5 children managed to escape

A 13-YEAR-OLD girl has been killed in a devastating house fire with seven others managing to escape the blaze.

Cops and emergency services rushed to a property in Kingsway in Prescot,Merseyside, after a reports of a fire late on Wednesday night.

A man, woman and five children were able to escape from the property unharmed.

Sadly the teenage girl was pronounced death at the scene.

The schoolgirl's family are said to be aware of her death and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Firefighters received a 999 call at about 11.40pm on Wednesday and found the rear bedroom of a mid-terraced house was alight.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put the fire out in the early hours of Thursday morning and then searched for people inside.

A joint investigation involving Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service’s Incident Investigation Team and Merseyside Police into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

House-to-house and CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the young girl at this very sad time. A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and the girl’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.”;
