Senator Moro berates security agencies over attacks in Benue

Published on April 22, 2025 at 03:21 PM

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has berated security agencies for not curtailing attacks in Benue State.

He decried that the security situation in Benue keeps degenerating day in day out, wondering how security agents failed their responsibilities which they are paid to do statutorily.

He accused security agents of extorting money from motorists and citizens on roads and highways, while criminals are busy attacking communities unchecked.

DAILY POST recalled attacks in Logo and Ukum Local Governments by Fulani militants leading to over 100 deaths with casualties still counting.

The lawmaker in the 10th National Assembly lampooned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ignoring resolutions passed by the Senate which said, would have addressed insecurity in Benue and other places.

Moro spoke on AIT programme on Monday, which was monitored by DAILY POST in Abuja, even as he said he was conscience stricken over the endless killings in Benue by Fulani herders.

He expressed optimism that Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, having condemned attacks would rise to the occasion of protecting the citizens.

Moro said, “It gladdens my heart that the governor has finally spoken up. He condemned the recent killings. He has been silent, and his silence has not been golden. One hopes he goes beyond condemnation and makes promises. These are not enough.”;
