No fewer than six people lost their lives and many others injured in a devastating crash that occurred on Sunday near Damagum Bus Stop in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to an eyewitness, Abubakar Jajere, the accident happened when the driver of an 18-seater bus struck a pedestrian brick, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The Yobe State Emergency Medical Ambulance Services, YEMABUS, crew responded swiftly to the emergency call, evacuating the dead and injured passengers to General Hospital Damagum and then to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu, approximately 60 kilometers away from the accident scene.

Meanwhile, the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) has warned motorists against overspeeding.

The agency, in a statement through its Public Relations Officer, Musa Ali Maigari, issued the warning in response to the Damagum tragic road accident that claimed the lives of six passengers, with many others injured.

YOROTA urged motorists and road users to remain vigilant and strictly comply with all traffic rules and regulations to help prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
