Published on April 15, 2025 at 03:27 PM

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved key appointments to the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, the Governor appointed Mallam Umar Baba as the new part-time Chairman of the Board.

Baba succeeds Abdullahi Mohammed Gidau, whose tenure ended on April 4, 2025.

The statement also confirmed the appointment of Mallam Bashir D. Zubairu as a board member. Zubairu replaces Dr. Ibrahim Bala (popularly known as Moscolo), who resigned months earlier to assume the role of Secretary to Keffi Local Government Council.

According to the SSG, the newly appointed officials will be formally inaugurated on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Lafia, the state capital.

The Nasarawa Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is responsible for coordinating and facilitating pilgrimage activities for Muslims in the state, particularly for the annual Hajj to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
