AVOID being rinsed at the car wash and get your motor gleaming for free.
With a little effort you can give your car its best ever clean.

Soak up these tips to make your machine gleamâ.â.â.â
BUCKET LIST: First of all, rinse the car, ideally using a hosepipe or pressure washer on a low setting, but buckets of water will do. This will get rid of loose dirt.
Then line up two buckets, one filled with warm water and car shampoo, the other just with cold water.
After using your sponge, clean it off in the cold bucket, before washing the car with the warm water. This will get the car sparkling and stop you scratching it with traces of grit.
Clean from the roof down so you tackle the grimiest bit of the car last.
Once washed, buff it with a microfibre cloth or proper chamois leather. Mix equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle for streak-free windows.
INSIDE JOB: Once you’ve got the outside gleaming, get inside the car with your vacuum cleaner. Tackle small spaces like air vents and fiddly knobs with an old toothbrush.
Mix warm water, vinegar, and a drop of washing-up liquid to clean fabric seats. For leather, use a mix of vinegar and olive oil.
Use a dash of olive oil to bring the shine back to the dashboard, but avoid the steering wheel.
FOLLOW YOUR NOSE: Now, get your car smelling as good as it looks.
You can make a DIY air freshener by putting ten drops of an essential oil on to a felt shape. Punch a hole in the top and then hang it from your car with ribbon or string.
If you are good with a needle, sew two pieces of fabric together to make a bag and fill with dried herbs, such as rosemary or lavender, or place a cotton wall ball sprinked with essential oils in the bag.
