SCHOOLS are out for Easter which can leave parents scrambling to find things for the kids to do.
You needn’t spend a fortune on keeping children happy.

Instead, try some of these activities for seasonal excitement without blowing the budgetâ.â.â.â
ALL RIGHT PETAL: Blossom from trees at this time of year is beautiful to see but you can also scoop it up from the ground for the kids to use for a fun, artsy project at home.
Dry them out by spreading out on parchment paper and popping in an oven for a few minutes on a low heat.
You can then use the petals to create a work of art with child-safe glue and some paper. Or try drawing the basic outline of a tree and let your child stick the petals on to it.
The also has a free step-by-step guide on how to make origami blossom on its website â you just need some coloured paper.
EASTER BONNET: Pick-up an Easter hat for £1 from Hobbycraft and children can have a great time decorating it.
Raid your home for craft materials such as shredded paper or coloured card that can be cut in to egg or flower shapes.
Pom poms, pipe cleaners and felt or old textiles also work well. If you need extra inspiration, Hobbycraft has loads of ideas you can follow online for free.
NESTING TIME: Head into the kitchen and whip up some Easter egg nest cakes for an easy win that kids will love.
Simply melt around 225g of cheap chocolate with two tablespoons of golden syrup and 50g of butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of shallow simmering water.
When melted take off the heat and stir in around 75g of cornflakes.
Use the mixture to fill cupcake cases and place three mini chocolate eggs on top of each. The mixture should make around 12.
It should take around an hour for the nests to cool and set.
