There is no faction in Benue PDP – Ortom

Former Governor of Benue State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Samuel Ortom, has reiterated that there is no faction within the state chapter of the party.

Ortom made this known on Sunday when a candidate for the position of North Central Zonal Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, paid him a visit to seek his blessing ahead of the party’s forthcoming zonal congress.

The former Governor firmly stated that the PDP in Benue State remains united under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, who was unanimously elected during the last state congress. He warned that anyone claiming to lead a parallel structure outside the Adaji-led leadership is an impostor and should be treated as such by the security agencies.

“As far as the PDP in Benue is concerned, we have a duly elected leadership under Ezekiel Adaji. Any person or group parading themselves outside of this is misleading the public and should be apprehended,”; Ortom said.

Speaking on the expected North Central Zonal Congress scheduled to hold in Jos, Plateau State, Ortom said he anticipates a transparent, free, and fair process, noting that the PDP is known for upholding due process and the rule of law.

Earlier, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed acknowledged the pivotal role Ortom played during his tenure as governor, particularly in his emergence as the party’s Deputy National Auditor. He pledged to work towards strengthening the PDP in the zone if elected.

During the visit, Abdulrahman and the FCT chapter of the PDP, led by its Chairman Ismaila Mohammed Dogara, also used the opportunity to condole with Ortom over the death of his younger brother, Mr. Bernard Ortom.

Ortom received the delegation in the company of prominent party stakeholders, including Barr. Michael Gusa, Sarwuan Tarnnongo, James Anbua, Terver Akase, Joseph Odaudu, Abrahams Kwaghngu and Adzer Abya.

Others present were Col Paul Hemba (Rtd), Azua Ashongo, Abraham Waroh, Patrick Modom, Barr. Clement Mue and Frank Kyungun.
