Transfer: Big miss – Zola surprised by Chelsea’s decision to sell two players

Published on July 26, 2023 at 10:43 AM

Chelsea legend, Gianfranco Zola has said that he was surprised by the club’s decision to sell the likes of Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic this summer.

Chelsea sold Mount to Manchester United and Kovacic to Manchester City this summer.

Apart from Mount and Kovacic, Chelsea also sold midfielders N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

But Zola has now admitted that both Mount and Kovacic will be a ‘big miss’ next season.

“I am surprised to have seen so many players leaving.

“I was surprised to see Mason leaving, and Kovacic leaving.

“They were very important players, not only for the quality they used to give the team but with Mason, he is one of the midfielders who could score goals.

“In my opinion they are a big miss. I don’t mention Kante because he was injured the whole season last season but the other two are very key players,”; Zola told talkSPORT.
