UCL: David Beckham reacts as Arsenal knock Real Madrid out

Published on April 17, 2025 at 07:33 PM

Real Madrid legend David Beckham has reacted to the club's exit from the 2025 Champions League at the hands of Arsenal.

The Gunners knocked Los Blancos out of the competition with a 5–1 aggregate win in the quarter-finals.

Mikel Arteta's side won both legs — 3–0 at the Emirates Stadium and 2–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the second leg.

Arsenal's overall performance saw them comfortably beat the 15-time UCL champions to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Speaking in an interview with CBS, the former England international and Manchester United icon weighed in on Arsenal knocking out the Spanish giants from the Champions League.

“A lot of people actually expected a bit of a comeback, that’s what they were saying in Madrid leading up to it. In all honesty, over the two games, Arsenal deserved it.

“It was the complete performance from Arsenal, great individual performances, great team performance, and great management from Mikel, so they deserved it,” he said.

David Beckham made 159 appearances for Real Madrid, recording 20 goals and 51 assists across competitions.
