Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has singled out midfielder, Declan Rice for special praise following Arsenal's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg 2-1 win against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Ferdinand said the England international didn't compete, but ran the show during the encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Recall that Arsenal defeated Real Madrid, thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli as Vinicius' goal was not enough for the hosts.
Rice, who was everywhere at the pitch during the encounter, win the award for the man of the match.
The 26-year-old endured Real Madrid never threatened a comeback in the tie as the Gunners cruised through to the Champions League semi-final.
His stunning performance attracted praises from Ferdinand.
“You need games like this in your career,” said Ferdinand, referencing Rice on commentary during TNT Sports' coverage.
“You need to get to places like that to be judged. And Declan Rice has been asked the questions against the holders of this competition. Can you compete at this level?
“He is not competing, he is ran the show over two games… he is really put himself in a different bracket now.”
