Unacceptable – UK Foreign Secretary, Lammy reacts as Israel deports two British Labour MPs

Published on April 06, 2025 at 05:04 AM

David Lammy, United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, has criticised Israeli government for denying two Labour MPs entry into the country and deporting them.

The two British Labour MPs are Yuan Yang and Abtisam Mohamed.

The duo were rejected because they were suspected of plans to “document the activities of security forces and spread anti-Israel hatred”;.

This was according to a statement from the Israeli immigration ministry.

Yang and Mohamed both flew into Ben Gurion airport from Luton with their aides, but were detained before they were later deported.

Reacting, Lammy, in a statement on Saturday, said it was unacceptable and counterproductive for Israeli authorities to deny Yang and Mohamed entry.

“It is unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning that two British MPs on a parliamentary delegation to Israel have been detained and refused entry by the Israeli authorities,” Lammy said.

“I have made clear to my counterparts in the Israeli government that this is no way to treat British parliamentarians, and we have been in contact with both MPs tonight to offer our support.”
