US billionaire, Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, has announced the termination of 269 wasteful contracts worth $845million in the past few days.
DOGE disclosed this in a statement released on its X account on Thursday.
According to DOGE, among the cancelled contracts is a $50,000 Interior consulting contract to provide facilitation and collaborative problem solving services.
The US agency noted that the cancellations have resulted in savings of $255 million for the country.
“Over the last several days, agencies have terminated 269 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $845M and savings of $255M, including a $50k @Interior consulting contract to “provide facilitation and collaborative problem solving services,” DOGE stated on X.
DOGE also announced the termination of $90 million in wasteful grants.
“Agencies also terminated $90M in wasteful grants, including $995k for a “BIPOC culinary program” and $625k for a Russian-Far East biodiversity partnership,” it added.
This is coming less than a week after worth $233 million by the US National Science Foundation, NSF.
