US Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, on Thursday morning criticized President Donald Trump's removal of two Democratic members from the National Credit Union Administration, NCUA, Board.
Schumer labeled the move “illegal”; and a direct threat to the financial stability of working families and small businesses.
In a post on his X account, Schumer said: “Trump just illegally fired two National Credit Union Administration board members.
“This threatens the stability of the Main Street credit unions that American families and small businesses rely on and undermines the protection of trillions of dollars in assets belonging to working families and small businesses.”
Trump had recently dismissed NCUA board members Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka.
Their sacking comes after Trump fired two Democratic commissioners at the Federal Trade Commission in March and a National Labor Relations Board member in January.
