US trade deals expected in three weeks —Trump

United States President Donald Trump said he expected to wrap up trade deals with US partners looking for lower tariffs in the next three or four weeks.

Trump disclosed this in his first ‘100 days' interview with Time magazine, published Friday.

Trump said, “I would say, over the next three to four weeks, and we’re finished, by the way.”

“I’ll be finished. Now, some countries may come back and ask for an adjustment, and I’ll consider that, but I’ll basically be, with great knowledge, setting—ready,”; he added.

Speaking on tariffs tit-for-tat with China, he said his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, called him and proposed trade and other deals.

While , Beijing held the opposite view.

US trade tariffs on China reached 145 percent under Trump; China retaliated with 125 percent tariffs.
