President Donald Trump of the United States, US, has expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine will strike a peace deal this week.
Trump said Ukraine and Russia will do business with the US after striking the peace deal.
Posting on his Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Hopefully Russia and Ukraine will make a deal this week, both will then start to do big business with the United States of America, which is thriving and make a fortune.
“The golden rule of negotiating and success: he who has the gold makes the rules. Thank you.
“The World will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but rather by those who watch them without doing anything to stop them.”;
Last month, Trump attempted to end the war by striking a mineral deal with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington.
The mineral deal, however, failed to materialize following a blow out between Trump and Zelenskky during the meeting.
That not withstanding, Russian President, Vladimir Putin had disclosed as part of an “Easter truce” in Ukraine.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war for over three years and the crisis has led to both sides suffering a lot of casualties.
But, Trump and other top European countries are keen to end the war between the two neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, a senior economist with the Centre for Economic Strategy thinktank in Kyiv, Volodymyr Landa, has said that the Minerals Deal between the United States of America and Ukraine has gone through “multiple iterations”;.
According to him, as quoted by the Guardian UK, “It’s hard to say what’s inside.”;
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine is keen to improve relations with the US President Donald Trump administration.
