War: Ukraine ignoring ceasefire – Russia says as Kyiv signs memorandum with US

The Russian ambassador to the United Nations, UN, Vassily Nebenzia, has accused Ukraine of ignoring the energy ceasefire.

He stated this after a joint statement, with the likes of Slovenia, Denmark, France, Greece, and Britain urging Russia to agree to a full and unconditional ceasefire.

Slovenia’s UN ambassador, Samuel Zbogar, said: “Ukraine wants peace, and has demonstrated this by agreeing to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire five weeks ago. At the consultations today, Russia again rejected the comprehensive ceasefire and refused to make its first step towards peace.”;

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s economy minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, has said that his country had signed a “memorandum of intent”; with the United States of America on a planned “investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine”;.

President Donald Trump of the United States said they would sign a minerals deal “next Thursday”;.

The US treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, also said that a deal was targeted for this weekend.
