We have zero tolerance for examination malpractices, cultism – AATU VC, Ajayi

Published on April 10, 2025 at 05:34 PM

The Vice Chancellor of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, Professor Adesola Ajayi has declared that the university has zero tolerance for examination malpractices, cultism and other social vices that are common in other tertiary institutions.

Ajayi made this disclosure on Thursday while addressing a press conference to herald the combined convocation of the university.

DAILY POST reports that the university is one of the tertiary educational institutions own by the Oyo State government.

Ajayi maintained that no fewer than sixty nine students bagged first class degrees of the institution in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions out of the 310 graduating students for the two sessions.

He added that aside the awards of degrees, the graduating students are being awarded with Diploma in French studies and Certificate in Vocational Training

He said, “We have zero tolerance for examination malpractices, cultism and other related social vices.

“We are happy to release the graduands as our ambassadors. 32 graduated first class in 2022/2023 session while we have 37 first class in the 2023/2024 academic session. In total, we have 69 for the two academic sessions.

“Each graduand is going home with three certificates, first degree in their courses of study and diploma in French language and certificate in entrepreneurship and vocational training. So, it is three certificates they are going home with.

“Every institution is now embracing technical and vocational training. No going back on that. Most of these courses are in high demand. They are specialised courses. There is no going back on Vocational training. There's no alternative to it. Indeed, every institution in Nigeria today has keyed in into the issue of vocational.

“Indeed, at the level of NUC, at the level of governments, regulatory agencies, the issue of vocational activity has been put to the front burner. For example, as part of the funding mechanism in TEDFund, it is now mandatory for each institution to have what they call a career services center. And everything is geared towards employability”.
