SIMONE Biles is the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history with 11 medals, and her football player husband Jonathan Owens is a sporting legend in his own right.

In April 2025, Simone and Jonathan were spending some time apart as she left him behind and jetted off to Spain to pick up another Laureus World and watch her first ever soccer match.

She said: “Glad I got to see you for a short bit before jetting off to the airport.

Simoneflew toMadrid to attend the prestigious Laureus Awards.

She also treated herself to some Japanese food and a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The stadium is home to LaLiga giantsReal Madrid, who took on Athletic Bilbao on April 20.

Simone watched the match, which sawFederico Valverdescore a 93rd-minute winning goal, and shared a video of the iconic stadium along with the caption “my first soccer match”.

And after receiving her award, theTeam USAicon said: “I'm so happy to be here inMadridand to receive my fourth Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award.

“I won this award for the first time in 2017 and Laureus has been a part of my story since then. I am proud to have added to my collection.”

Who is Simone Biles' husband, Jonathan Owens?

Born on July 22, 1995, Jonathan Owens is an American NFL player from St. Louis, Missouri.

During the league's 2018 draft, he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals.

On August 31, 2019, the Cardinals waived him after he spent the entire previous season on injury reserve.

Jonathan also had stints with the Green Bay Packers and the Houston Texans.

On March 13, 2024, he was signed by the Chicago Bears.

Why did Simone and Jonathan have two weddings?

Simone and Jonathan's larger wedding celebration was a destination ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Before proceeding with the festivities, the couple decided to legally marry in a civil ceremony.

The pair officially wedded at a courthouse in Houston, Texas.

“We had to get married ‘legally' here in the US since our wedding will be a destination wedding,” the gymnast explained on Instagram.

How did Simone and Jonathan meet?

In March 2020, Simone and Jonathan met via Raya.

Raya is a membership-based dating app, which has become known for matching public figures.

By February 15, 2022, the two announced their engagement.

“I didn’t know who she was at the time, but the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers,” Jonathan recalled to The Pivot Podcast.

“So in my mind, I'm like, she gotta be good. I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity.

“When she won the Olympics, I was in college, and we didn’t have NBC.

“We didn’t have Olympics channels and we’re in camp.

“So I’m not paying attention, I never would have had a moment to where I would have watched.”
