Women’s Pool Championship: Two male transgenders play final after beating all females

Published on April 07, 2025 at 06:19 AM

A women’s pool tournament championship in the United Kingdom featured two male transgender players who defeated all their female opponents.

Lucy Smith and Harriet Haynes went toe-to-toe in the Ultimate Pool Women’s Pro Series Event 2 at Robin Park Leisure Centre in Wigan on Sunday night.

They each defeated four female opponents to reach the championship final.

In the final, Haynes led the match 6–3 at one point, but Smith came back to cut the deficit to one.

Haynes, however, held on for the victory.

Meanwhile, the rules of both the English Pool Association (EPA) and the World Eightball Pool Federation (WEPF) state that trans-identified athletes are allowed to compete in the sport with absolutely no restrictions.

However, the bylaws of the English Pool Association have been under review since December 2023.
