On a recent post, the former social worker explained: “Five years ago I was working as a child protection officer which I did for a number of years.

“I started of quite enjoying it but by the end I hated it.

“I've wanted to be a presenter for ages and so I thought I would try and find a way of leaving social work, pursing my dreams.

“So I went on reality TV on series 1 of Tempting Fortune on “

“Series 2 is currently airing at the moment, you should watch it cause it's great.

“It's all about not spending and turns out I did but I also won some and used the money for my Masters in TV Journalism.

He added he had been resistant to doing because he felt it was quite embarrassing to be on there.

Jokingly he added: “There must be a way to make this feel less cringe. Maybe I should wear a hat or a scarf.”

Tempting Fortune hosted by Paddy McGuiness saw 12 contestants take on the tough South African wilderness in Season One.

Along the way they were tempted with “treats” to make their trip more enjoyable, but this came at a price – and ultimately reduced the £300K prize pot.

All 12 contestants made it to the final of Tempting Fortune.

However, unlike other reality gameshows, the batch of hopefuls didn't get whittled down during the course of the show but their share of the prize money depended on how much they had spent.
