You must do dirty work to attain success – Funke Akindele

Published on April 06, 2025 at 08:35 AM

Popular Nigerian actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has said that for anyone to succeed and make exploits in life, the person must be willing to do the dirty work.

Speaking on the ‘WithChude' podcast, Akindele explained that doing the dirty work is one of the requirements of achieving success in one's career.

In addition, the actress identified hard work and dedication to duty and responsibilities as key to success.

Revealing the secrets to her most talked-about successes, Akindele said, “Let me say that a lot of people want to do what I am doing, but I keep telling them: for you to be successful, you need to work hard and do the dirty work.”

She maintained that she refused to dwell on or allow present successes in the industry to affect her work, but remained focused and undistracted.

While not ruling out the place of spirituality in the entertainment journey, she highlighted the importance of self-awareness and originality in making headway in the sector, attributing her four consecutive years of success in the Nigerian box office to her intentionality and desire for perfection.

She also spoke on how she handles grief, saying that she does not allow herself to break down due to personal problems or issues.
