INSTAGRAM is expected to launch a brand new app that fans have been wanting for years.
That's according to a new report that claims â which owns â is secretly working on a new app.

It's the long-awaited version of Instagram, which has previously been called “not a priority” by top brass at Meta.
Instagram launched way back in 2010, which is the same year that debuted its first iPad.
But despite pleading from fans, Instagram has never released an official app for Apple's tablet â even on the .
Now The Information reports that Instagram is nearly ready to release an app.
“Instagram is also working on a version of the Instagram app designed for iPads, the current employee said, which could further drive usage of Instagram,” it explains.
“Currently, iPad users can download a version of the Instagram app designed for iPhones, which appears zoomed-in on iPads â not a good experience!”
The current version of Instagram on the iPad isn't a proper tablet app.
Instead it's a scaled-up version that looks much worse than the iPhone version.
Instagram has been very open about why it hasn't produced an in the past.
Back in 2020, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said: “We'd like to build an iPad app, but we only have so many people and lots to do.
“And it hasn't bubbled up as the next best thing to do yet.”
Then in 2021, he said: “I spent a bit of time on an iPad because I was on a flight, but still no iPad app for Instagram.
“It would be nice to do, but there's a lot to do and only so many people, so it hasn't made the cut.”
In 2022, Mosseri explained: “We get this one a lot. It's still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority.
“Hoping to get to it at some point, but right now we're very heads down on other things.
“I call these ‘finally features‘. Things like supporting dark mode, scheduled posts, an iPad app, deleting on photo from a carousel, etc.”
Then in 2023, he said that Instagram was “not working on it right now”, but added that it would be “a good thing to have at some point”.
Since then, it's been quiet on the iPad front, but this latest report says that an app is finally in development.

Sadly it's still possible that the Instagram app will never release, so don't get your hopes up just yet.
