I’m an interior expert – the six trends set to take over your home this spring
Published on March 21, 2025 at 12:42 PM
NOW that spring has officially arrived, many of us will be eager to brush away the winter blues and embrace a brighter space.
The new season brings with it a fresh start and lighter days, which is why now is the ideal time to give the home a refresh.
Bringing in a touch of nature with some plants is ideal for spring2025 is all about adding pastel shades like blush pinkOther earth tones can be incorporated into other rooms in the house
From spring cleaning to touching up the walls with some fresh paint, homeowners will be thinking about sprucing up the place.
And in a bid to help, interior experts have shared their top tips on how to embrace a new, vibrant aesthetic.
Spring interiors are all about breathing new life into your environment, as well as combining fresh colours and ideas that foster a calm yet uplifting atmosphere.
And experts have said that this year it's all about embracing softer tones, connecting with nature, and adding personality without overwhelming the space.
Zara O'Hare, from Land of Rugs, has said there are six new trends that will help you effortlessly bring a touch of spring into your home in 2025.
And you don't need to spend a fortune in the process to do it.
Muted pastels – subtle yet striking
While neutral colour schemes are all the rage right now, you can add a touch of spring by incorporating some pastel colours into your home.
This includes colours like gentle greens, blush pinks, and soft blues â shades that gently complement the neutral backdrop rather than overpower it.
Zara explains: “Muted pastels add subtle pops of colour that still keep a soothing vibe. They don’t scream for attention but instead invite the eye to wander, creating depth and warmth without going bold.
“It’s the perfect balance for those who are indecisive about committing to strong colours, or for renters who want versatile pieces that move with them.”;
Nature fusion – bring the outdoors in
Nature designs have been on trend for a while, but spring is the perfect time to really embrace it – this includes things like botanical motifs and furniture made from reclaimed wood, rattan, and other textures.
This also includes earthy tone colours like mossy greens, soft browns, and tranquil blues, colours that echo the tranquillity of forests, mountains, and oceans
The experts suggest: “Incorporating plants, whether small or large, and using natural fibres like jute or hemp, are essential in bringing this trend to life.
“Nature Fusion aims to create a sanctuary that connects you with the outdoors, evoking feelings of calm and wellness.”;
“You can easily incorporate this trend by introducing more greenery into your space, and choosing artwork or accessories that feature natural landscapes.”;
Revived maximalism – bigger, bolder, better
Even though minimalism has dominated trends in recent years, 2025 is going to be all about maximalism – this spring it’s all about making a statement with bold, larger-than-life furniture and extravagant design choices.
“Bigger is better”; is key here, with plush, oversized sofas, large dining tables, and opulent light fittings being key components.
Zara says: “The colour palette leans towards jewel tones, emerald greens, regal purples, and rich burgundies, that create an air of sophistication.
“When paired with plush textures and intricate embellishments, oversized furniture creates a luxurious atmosphere.”;
Orange is the new beige this year
Orange is the new beige
While beige is always a popular choice, this year is bringing in the warmth of orange tones which will bring a much-needed burst of energy and optimism to interiors.
Not only is it perfect with the in-trend neutral shades, but it also adds vibrancy and personality and can be tied in with other colours like soft peach tones and the previously mentioned nature tones.
Zara advises: “Orange is the perfect colour to pair with greenery.
“It’s a complementary colour to green, so using houseplants alongside your orange hues creates a harmonious and cosy space.”;
Perfect pairings
COLOURS that pair well with neutral colours warm beiges, earthy tones and browns include:
White – This can help brightens up beige rooms while white accents can make a space feel lighter and brighter.
Pink – This complements both warm and cool hues on the colour wheel. For a modern vibe, blend it with light neutrals such as beige, ivory, or taupe. Or for a more daring style, contrast pink with deep greens, navy blues, or rich greys.
Black – This pairs beautifully with a wide range of colours, from neutrals like white and beige to bold hues like deep greens. But remember to mix with lighter colours to keep the room feeling open and airy.
Peach – This pair beautifully with soft greens and pastel blues to create a space that feels light, stimulating, and full of potential. It also deepens in tone as the seasons shift to autumn.
Brown – This pairs beautifully with a variety of complementary shades. For a more striking contrast, deep blues or teal provide a bold yet sophisticated pairing.
Textures and curved edges – soft, sculptural appeal
This spring is all about embracing softness, as well as pastel colours, this includes furniture like rounded sofas and sculptural coffee tables and fabrics that add comfort and warmth to any room.
Zara explains: “Curved lines create a more inviting, relaxed vibe. Instead of harsh, angular corners, round shapes evoke softness and comfort.”;
“Think scalloped cushions, pebble-shaped ottomans, and wavy light fixtures. These details work together to create an environment that feels as good as it looks.
“It’s about being embraced by your surroundings, both visually and physically.”;

Thoughtful tablescaping – bring the celebration home
Tablescaping is making a major comeback this spring with experts predicting that more families will be hosting meals at home since dining out has gotten more expensive.
Zara explains, “A well-designed table can transform an everyday meal into something special. You don’t need to spend a fortune.
“Use what you already have, like relocating candlesticks, adding flowers, or using your best glassware.
“A beautifully set table doesn’t just make a meal more enjoyable; it adds a personal touch that shows you’ve put thought into the occasion.”;
“Keep it simple but meaningful with fabric napkins, a stunning tablecloth, and fresh flowers down the centre.”;
