Zack Snyder'sArmy of the Dead has become a chart-topping sensation with fans only wanting more after the credits closed. This has inevitably led to many subscribers searching for answers about whether or not Army of the Dead 2 will be available on the streaming service this year.
Alongside Dave Bautista is a rather large ensemble cast including Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, Ella Purnell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Huma Qureshi, and Garret Dillahunt.
The film was released in theaters on May 14, 2021, where it became Netflix's largest opening for one of its films and has received pretty solid scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite some of its flaws, the movie is an exceptional B-movie zombie flick that fans of the undead and the genre will not want to miss.
Netflix has already announced plans for an anime-style series and a prequel film. With that in mind, many fans are still wondering if the follow-up to the feature will arrive in 2021.
What is Army of the Dead about?
Army of the Dead follows a group of mercenaries who embark on a death-defying mission to enter a zombie-ridden Las Vegas to steal 200 million from a casino vault before the whole place gets hit by a nuclear bomb. And these aren't the typical type of zombies. “Shamblers” and “Alphas” are much more nightmare-inducing enemies than what is seen in other films like Snyder's excellent undead endeavor, Dawn of the Dead. There is even a zombie tiger.
When is Army of the Dead 2 coming out?
As of right now, there are no official plans for Army of the Dead 2, so it seems very unlikely the next iteration will arrive before the year ends for subscribers to enjoy.
If one had to guess as to the potential release date for Army of the Dead 2, if it were even to happen, it would possibly be safe to surmise that the sequel could show up sometime in 2022 or 2023, but that is pure speculation at this point as no sequel has been announced.
