Jackson’s conversion rate not great – Pennant gives Chelsea reason to sign Osimhen

Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has given Chelsea reasons to make a summer transfer move for Victor Osimhen.

According to Pennant, Osimhen is clinical in front of goal, whereas Chelsea’s current striker, Nicolas Jackson, has a poor conversion rate.

He believes the Nigeria international could be the solution to Chelsea’s scoring problems, adding that his statistics are impressive.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Pennant said Osimhen would be a major boost for Chelsea or any team.

He said, “Osimhen would change things for Chelsea without a shadow of a doubt.

“He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are flying in, his numbers are great.”;

He added, “I’m going to look back at Jackson and how many chances he gets per game, but the conversion rate isn’t great.

“He can have three or four clear-cut chances and still fail to put any of them away.

“I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal, would boost Chelsea or boost any team.”

Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli and is expected to leave the Serie A side permanently in the summer.

The 26-year-old is presently on international duty with the Super Eagles as they prepare to take on Zimbabwe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, following their victory over Rwanda on Friday.
