June 12 1993 Election: Adegboruwa calls for immortalization of Professor Humphrey Nwosu

A Human Rights Lawyer and activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has called on President Bola Tinubu to immortalise the late Professor Humphrey Nwosu and others who sharpened the June 12 1993 general election.

Adegboruwa stated that the heroism of Professor Humphrey Nwosu is the concept of Option A4 for a transparent election.

He opined that late Nwosu designed a process that eliminated fraud and manipulation of the electoral process.

According to Adegboruwa, the process ensured that the will of the people as expressed at the polls was not truncated, which was one of the principles that shaped June 12.

This is contained in a statement he personally signed and issued on Friday.

He noted that Chief MKO Abiola’s emergence as winner of the June 12, 1993 election can be traced to the courage, integrity and transparency of the National Electoral Commission that Professor Nwosu headed then.

The statement read, “I believe Professor Nwosu and all those who were part of the June 12 struggle should be immortalized.

“Beyond the proclamations of immortalism however, is the need to ensure that the factors and principles that define June 12 are well implemented by those who are in authority in order to achieve real democracy, good governance in, and development for our nation.
